Quickstart Guide

This section provides a Quickstart guide

When you receive the XBLink Duo, all software has been installed. You can check your credentials on your box.

Setup Cellular Connection

1. Insert SIM cards

The XBLink Duo utilizes two SIM cards for network redundancy.

Use a SIM eject tool to remove the SIM tray located at the bottom of the device, insert your nano SIM cards into Slot 1 and Slot 2.

SIM Card must be faced up

Then, push the tray back into the device securely.

The SIM card is recessed into the enclosure and you might need a tool to push it into the socket. You can hear a click when the card is inserted.

2. Connect LTE Antennas

Antenna installation and removal instructions: here

Setup Satellite Connection

Connect the satellite ethernet cable to the SATCOM port on the XBLink Duo.

Then, connect the other end to your satellite device.

Connect Drone Systems

4. Connect XBCam Mini

Connect XBCam Mini to USB type C port.

Note: We currently support a variety of Cameras and Gimbals in here

5. Connect Flight Control

You can use Telemetry 1 or 2 of Pixhawk for connection with XBLink Duo COM1/COM2

Note: Config baud rate of Pixhawk to 57600, SERIAL1_BAUD (Default 57, it means 57600), SERIAL1_PROTOCOL: 2 (MAVLink 2)

6. Power up

Connect the power cable to the PWR port.

Power up XBLink Duo

XBLink Duo supports 7-30V voltage input. We highly recommend 3-4S battery or 12V DC UBEC (minimum 3A) to power (6S battery is possible but make sure it's high quality and low discharge)

7. Done

This is a setup video using the standard SAT, but the process is similar for the Duo: here

Step 2: Configure Flight Controller

You can use Telemetry 1 or 2 of Pixhawk for connection with XBLink Duo. Telemetry 1 is normally used for Telemetry Radio (like: RFD900...) and Telemetry 2 for XBLink Duo.

The baud rate on the XBLink Duo must be the same as the Pixhawk baud rate (Telemetry 1 or 2).

  • For ArduPilot : SERIAL2_BAUD = 57 (Default, it means 57600),

    SERIAL2_PROTOCOL=2 (MAVLink 2)

  • For PX4: SER_TEL2_BAUD = 57600 (Default 921600, you should change it to 57600 to save bandwidth)

More information: here

Note: If you have aproblem with The Telemetry 2 port, you can use Telemetry 1 Port

(Default baud rate Telemetry 1 is 57600, MAVLink 1).

XBLink Duo still works normally with both MAVLink 1 and MAVLink 2.

Step 3: Connect XBStationPilotApp and Ground Station Software

  1. Download: here

  2. Login (Username and password in XBLink Duo box)

  3. Choose XBLink Duo

  4. Connect to GCS

Step 4: Test and Flight

  1. Put XBLink Duo on your drone

  2. Check the connection between XBLink Duo to Pixhawk, Camera, Satellite device, SIM cards, and LTE Antennas.

  3. Connect battery

  4. Waiting about 30s - 60s for XBLink Duo start up

  5. Check led Indicator: LED meanings

  6. Open XBStationPilotApp, Login

  7. Connect to GCS: QGroundControl or Mission Planner
